Reduced registration burden, prevention of critical errors, improved regulation of high-risk processes.
The Reproduction Center of the Erasmus MC Sophia Children’s Hospital is the first fertility center to adopt eWitness; a high quality software system used to digitally manage all second checks of patient material during an IVF treatment.
eWitness provides reliable identification checks at any time when working with patient material, for instance prior to follicle puncture for oocyte retrieval, insemination, or embryo transfer after IVF treatment.
Wendy Stal, manager of The Reproduction Center, says: “Identification and safety are one of our highest priorities throughout the entire hospital, but especially in an IVF department there is no need to explain what the risks may entail when patient material is registered incorrectly.” Identification has always taken place, but the considerable advantage of eWitness is its integration with eBase, the patient registration tool designed for fertility treatments. This has also greatly reduced the administrative burden.
Supervised by Esther van Baart, analyst Kevin Karremans and embryologist i.t. Jeroen Speksnijder guided the implementation of eWitness. They were supported by eWitness supplier eFertility and the IT department of the Erasmus MC.
Wendy: “Thanks to everyone’s efforts, we managed to integrate the entire program from A to Z in just two months. All employees were trained and everything was prepared with great precision, as we are used to at the Laboratory of Reproductive Medicine. We are proud to be at the forefront of this development. To celebrate, we received a beautiful eWitness plaque and a delicious cake from the supplier.”Go back to latest news
